Language Therapy

Language Therapy

First, we will complete a thorough evaluation to determine if your child has a language delay or disorder and what approach will fit your child best. Once the cause is determined a unique treatment plan will be created to meet the child's individual needs. A language delay is when a child is acquiring language in a typical developmental pattern, yet is doing so at a slower pace. A language disorder is a language difference when a child learns language atypically.  Some children may have difficulty with receptive language which is the ability to understand language. Others may exhibit difficulty with expressive language which is the ability to express oneself through verbal, gestural, written and/or sign language.

Some families may seek language therapy to help build their child's play skills to expand their reciprocal play and joint attention with others. Play is a critical piece of a child's early learning process. It is the foundation for building a child's imagination, social and verbal skills.

Together as a team we will work together to determine what approach matches your child best! Whether it is through a traditional language approach, visual learning, floortime, gestalt language learning, child-led play or a combination. Reach out with your language questions today!
